The Counseling & Guidance Department at MJHS is available to help students, parents, and teachers develop positive learning experiences. The program consists of a variety of services and activities, including individual and group counseling, parent and teacher consultation, group guidance, information services, and student assessment.

The counselor, Mrs. Rumbley, is a master’s level professional with preparation in child and adolescent development and mental health counseling. She attended the University of Montevallo for both her undergraduate and graduate degrees. While she was a student there, she was a member of the Chi Omega social fraternity, the American Association of University Women, and the Volunteer Corps. Before becoming a school counselor, she worked with physically and emotionally abused children at The Exchange Club. She is a Leeds native and resides there with her husband, Bo, and their son, James. They will be welcoming twins into their family this April. She and her family are active members of the Episcopal Church of the Ephiphany. She enjoys reading, writing, theater, and cooking. You’ll find her cheering for the Auburn Tigers in the Fall and the Boston Red Sox in the Spring. Mrs. Rumbley is a current member of the American School Counselor Association.

The counselor’s office is located in the main office, and appointments can be scheduled by calling or emailing.
